Hey there, it’s Cheating Tom and I’d like to introduce you to my new friend, a super smart maestro in the gaming industry, Mr. Michael Cai. I just met the guy, but I can tell you that he definitely didn’t cheat his way through high school! Michael Cai is the Senior Vice President of Games and Digital for Interpret LLC, a leading media and technology research firm. He is an expert in researching and analyzing consumer gaming habits and has published more than 800 industry reports and research projects. 800 reports... that’s a whole lot of reports! I took a few minutes to ask my new friend about his favorite games and his upcoming visit to Tel Aviv. Take a look at what he had to say!
null Tom: So...you research consumer gaming habits. I was supposed to do a research project in school once, but I cheated instead and copied off my friend! (Ya, ya...I know…) What is the most surprising fact you can tell me about gamers? (Especially kid and teen gamers!)

Michael: Those kids can game! These days they start early. I'm sure you have seen those little monkeys, as young as 2 or 3, tapping and swiping on iPads. By the time they are 6 or 7, they are building amazing stuff in Minecraft and killing creepers. Some of them even start learning programming with Minecraft. What was I playing with at 6? Mud! What does surprise me (and this is something I don't approve) is how young they actually start playing mature games like GTA and CoD. Let kids be kids!
null Tom: What games do you play at work when your bored? (JK, you’re probably NEVER bored at work!)

Michael: You caught me! Although I rarely get bored at work (there’s so much to do!) I do sneak in a couple of sessions of Trivia Crack, Hay Day, and Rush of Heroes when I take a break.
null Tom: How did you get into the world of gaming? What is it about games and gamers that intrigues you most?

Michael: Long story short, I kind of fell into it. I wrote my first gaming report in 2004 and never looked back. It's an energetic and innovative industry with creative and awesome people. What's not to love?! It's also always exciting to observe and talk to video gamers about their favorite hobby. Gaming keeps this world going round. Plus, I'm the coolest daddy on the block since I work in games. My two daughters both enjoy playing games and my older one got mentioned on German NPR when I was interviewed for a video game story! I also shared her opinions with several of my video game and toy clients. Guess what? They LISTENED!
null Tom: It's so cool that you're speaking at Casual Connect TLV! What are you most looking forward to on this trip?

Michael: The honor is all mine. I look forward to meeting you Mr. Cheating Tom, all the creative folks in Israel, and visiting Jerusalem and Haifa! Of course, I also look forward to sharing some exciting data from our GameByte Kids Global Research!
